Last-Minute Places to Shop for the Holidays

You know you need to plan ahead, but every year, you seem to find yourself scrambling for at least one or two items from your holiday gift list (or maybe the entire list). You don't want to go to a big-box store and pick a generic gift off their holiday shopping aisles.

Fortunately, the Triangle is a haven for local businesses. Here are a few great places to shop for last-minute gifts in the Greater Raleigh and Durham area:

Cameron Village: A local favorite- Cameron Village in the heart of Raleigh has something for everyone! Shops include fine jewelry, outdoor supplies, boutiques, antiques, and so much more! It also has chain stores such as Pier 1 Imports and Talbots. Shopping at Cameron Village is an experience with everything being outdoors, it is the perfect spot to enjoy a whole day of shopping, make sure you eat at one of their fabulous restaurants!

North Hills: North Hills has really boomed in the last few years and it is easy to see why it makes our list on best places for last minute shopping! Much like Cameron Village, North Hills has a mix of locally owned shops and big name stores (JcPenny). You could spend a whole day at North Hills and not experience everything. North Hills is sure to have something for everyone on your holiday list.

Lafayette Village: Situated in North Raleigh, Lafayette Village makes you feel like you stepped into a quaint European Village. Shopping includes fabulous locally owned boutiques and gourmet restaurants. You are sure to find a unique and special gift for that special person on our list.

Vaguely Reminiscent: This small shop on Ninth Street in Durham features everything from t-shirts and jewelry to wall decor and novelty gifts. You'll find plenty of items here to show off your love of Durham and North Carolina, and you can find some items from local artists. No matter what you get, you can be sure it's not something you'll find at every other store in the mall.

Parker and Otis: After eating a delicious meal at this Brightleaf Square staple, you can shop for locally made items and unique gifts. You can also shop for some of the delicious treats you may have sampled inside, such as sauces, jams, and baked treats. You can send an out-of-town friend or family member a taste of North Carolina with some of the gifts you'll find here.

Chapel Hill

Southern Season: Southern Season is a Chapel Hill treasure. You can find a variety of delicious Southern treats here, as well as upscale house wares and unique gifts. Pick up a gift basket if you can't make a selection (it may be harder than you think!).
