Residents can often be found frequenting the weekly farmer’s market as well as strolling the local antique shops and specialty stores. Festivals such as the PeakFest Street Fair, a large arts & crafts event that brings in over 15,000 attendees a year, the Ole Fashioned 4th of July, Trick-or-Treat on Salem St., and Christmas on Salem St. are favorites among Apex locals.

The city is also big on bicycles, offering the residents living here safe bike lanes in which to get around town. Cyclists have US Bicycle Route 1 and the North Carolina Bicycle Route 5, which connects to Wilmington. Major thoroughfares in Apex include US Highway 1, US Highway 64, and North Carolina Highway 55. Although most residents of the community do commute by car, the city also has an Amtrak rail and bus services that are commonly used. And, there are 2 airports less than 30 miles away from the downtown area.
